Change of Charity Status of Foodbank

Whitchurch Foodbank Changes to a CIO.

Whitchurch Foodbank has changed their registration with the Charity Commission to become registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

This registration was confirmed by the Charity Commission on 19 May 2025 and a new charity number issued 1213329.

This change was made as under the previous charity 1153274 our governing document was a Trust Deed which precluded us from employing staff. With the recent retirement of Alan & Chris Scutt and nobody prepared to undertake a management role on a solely voluntary basis the Trustees needed to make other provision to ensure the service to those needing help from the Foodbank could continue.

One of our existing volunteers – Hannah Adamson offered to continue her voluntary work at FB each Tuesday &  Friday and undertake other necessary administrative duties on a paid basis. Hence our reason to apply to be registered as a CIO.

This change of charitable status has also meant securing new ICO registration (Data Protection), a new bank account and a new franchise agreement with Trussell.

All those processes are now complete and as soon as our year end accounts for the old charity have been independently verified steps will be taken to close Charity 1153274.

There has been no change to the name of the charity or its registered address but if you are someone who contributes financially to the work of the charity then please ensure you make the necessary changes to ensure monies are paid into the new charity.
