About

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

We do not think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide nutritionally balanced emergency food for three days, and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Foodbanks in the UK.
13 million people currently live below the poverty line in the UK. Every day people go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK.

In 2014-15 our network of foodbanks fed 1,000000 people nationwide. Of those we helped, 396,997 were children.

Rising food and fuel prices, static incomes, under employment and changes to benefits are some of the reasons why increasing numbers are being referred to foodbanks for emergency food.

The Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to open new foodbanks nationwide. With over 420 foodbanks currently launched, our goal is for every town to have one.
